I'm anxious to get started
After quite a few years without a project, I've purchased a 1963 Chevy C10 Panel. It's pretty rough but the frame is clean. The majority of the rust is floor and rockers. It's clearly a very original truck. But that's not what got me to buy it. It appears to be an old Helms Bakery panel. Even better, there are indications it may have been owned and operated by Yum Yum Donuts in So. Cal into the late 1990's and early 2000's. The real draw of this panel for me has little to do with the actual vehicle as this has what appears to be the original Helms Bakery cabinets in the back. They are in great condition for their age. The goal starting out was to restore an older panel into a Helms Bakery truck. The fact the my wife and I actually may have found an original Helms truck with the cabinets is a bonus.
So let the games begin. The plan is to get all new running gear into it, with a small block Chevy, four wheel discs, and maybe an IFS depending on how the body and paint go. I'm really anxious to get started but I am also not in a hurry. I'm looking forward to being a regular participant here and will have a million questions as I move through this process. See you soon.
