Hidden sound system solution for bucket seats?
Now I'm wishing I'd relocated the fuel tank for this reason, but is there a half-way-decent speaker/sub combo that fits under BUCKET seats? I see stuff in the catalogs for bench seat subs, that sort of thing, but nothing for buckets.
I would need something hidden. If anything I'd put the sub/bass under the seats and then the high range in the stock dash locations, driven with a modern retro-looking (NOT CustomAutosound) radio. So not all Class A components, not looking for audiophile stuff, just "a lot better than the stock dash speaker" level of quality. Suggestions? Or old threads? Hard to sort out the non-bench from the bench ones, and without photos a lot of people put speakers in plain view, which I want to avoid for this truck.

Here is a link to mine.
I don't know if there is enough room in the corners with the gas tank but you may have enough. Some modding may needed. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=607618

Re: Hidden sound system solution for bucket seats?
I got one of those custom auto sound units for under the seat , never installed it after listening to it , it was horable , i put 6x9 s in like Andy in the corners , but the bench drowns them alot , still way better sounding than the autosound junk

Re: Hidden sound system solution for bucket seats?
I don't have buckets, but on my 72 I made 2 boxes. One under the driver side and one under the passenger of the bench seat. Each box has 5 1/2" speaker with a bass blocker and a 6x9" speaker.
What I did was; take some measurements, make a drawing of the box, minus the amount of wood thickness of the top and bottom, then you'll have the mounting depth, find speakers with less than that mounting depth. Maybe you could fit two 5 1/2" speakers in a box under each bucket seat? That's my 2 cents. |

Re: Hidden sound system solution for bucket seats?
I used these subs with built in amps from Alpine under my K10 bench seat. Not sure if they will fit under buckets or not, but you may want to look into it. For the rest of the K10 stereo system info, please check out it's build thread on the site.

I'll check into those Apline ones - I need something that can likely run full range (not just sub) unless I can get a good satellite mid hidden somewhere.
