I am in need of some information for restoring the heater in my 1971 c20 non AC cab. I direct wired the blower motor and it works fine. When I move the control sliders I get nothing, no sounds or anything. Where should I begin ?

Re: 1971 heater restoration / non AC
I just completed a rebuild on my heater system. I would check the switch that's on the back of your heater control panel. It may need replacing. Then double check all cable ends to make sure they are snugly fit on the correct locations. Check both ends. There is also a blower resistor that is mounted in the interior heater box. You'll have to remove the glovebox to access it though. It also may be your problem. Good luck!

lay on your back under the dash or remove the 2 screws on the bottom that hold it in and look at it...the arms that move the cables are pot metal and will break off...pretty self-explanitory when you look at it...check if you have power in and out of the switch with a test light etc...bought an lmc aftermarket one and the quality was ok

Re: 1971 heater restoration / non AC
All of your information/suggestions were dead on! I got it all working today and installed new duct work. I first tested for power in the wire harness and had power. The issue was with the middle control lever that controls the fan speed. It was broken off and after installing a new one it worked instantly. Wish every fix was as easy as this one was.
