Re: Moby: My Chevy 4x4 ls swap

love the truck, i am helping a friend redo a 84 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 truck and we are putting a LQ9 in it. was curious about the long tubes u bought, if you don't mind could u tell me the part number or the specs on them, brand, out let size, ect.. u seem to be the only person i have seen put long tubes on a build like this and it sounds like a good way to go. thanks for your time

One question. Your black trim along the lower sides of the truck, is that stock? I'm trying to find an alternative to that stick on chrome LMC stuff, and I haven't seen straight black before.
Thank you. The black trim is not stock. The guy who owned this truck before me stuck it on and I have no idea where he got it. A quick Google search brought up some results for me though, keep looking my friend. Click here and here for links I found with similar black molding.

The long tubes in my truck are cheap ebay stainless headers meant to go in a 2010 ls3 camaro. I got them because they were the cheapest longtubes I could find that tucked in real well. It's a 2.5" collector but I was planning on running a 3" exhaust and just using a 2.5 to 3 inch adapter. There was slight frame trimming that had to be done, not a ton though and I don't think it hurt the structural integrity of my frame at all. My other build thread shows more pics and info, check it out here on post #16.

Thanks, didn't even think about getting a universal stick on trim.

Re: Moby: My Chevy 4x4 ls swap

Went to oreilly for some brake pads, came out and truck wont start. No fuel pressure because the fuel pump sending unit fried (bad wiring, 20 year old sending unit). O'Reilly ordered a new one for me which took a day, so the truck spent the night there. I opted to pull the bed back instead of dropping the tank. Funny story, crap weekend.

Had to cheer myself up. New wheels and 35 x 12.5 inch tires. Can't go wrong with bfg all terrains.

Yeah I didn't change any crossmembers. I've used dirty dingo mounts on two 80's 4x4 Chevys and didn't have problems once adjusted. If I remember correctly, I had to replace the 81 Chevy motor mounts ($10 @ autozone) because the stock ones were so worn out that the 5.3 was sagging just far enough to barely touch the oil pan to the front crossmember. I have also replaced the 5.3 oil pan gasket and did not have a problem with the crossmember being in the way of removing it. Hope that helps.

Seen your post on square body nation the red truck you put the 2nd row Tahoe seat in it.. Was it mounted on sliders or how did you mount it?
