I'm looking into buying this truck but I don't know if it's a shortbed 4x4 or what options it comes with. This is the spid pics the guy send me and they are so hard to read. The guy is asking 7500$ you guys think is a fair price? I'll post pics

you have to be a subscribing member to post "what's it worth?" Threads .For all the information you'll get it's well worth the cost .

Are you buying it online or can you go and see it up close ?

Re: what does the spid say?

Whats so hard to read and understand???

The SPID says it is (was) a 72 Chevy K10 base model short bed stepside.
But the truck has had a lot of modifications if it is the same truck! Without looking at the data plate (and its rivets, hard) and the partial frame VIN its impossible to say its original to the truck pictured.

Re: what does the spid say?

He's not selling anything, he is asking our opinion on the truck in general, including asking price. Any insight on that? I can only tell so much looking at a picture. I'd say it's not a terrible price but could be better at more like $5-6k. I would start out offering $5k, probably closest to what it is worth, considering lower production and high desire. These days you have to be happy just to find one. A truck like this done can fetch quite a bundle.

I guess you wanted to know what the description was for the options where it is torn. Thankfully the codes are intact and SSTim was able to tell you the coinciding description

Not if your looking to buy - only if you are looking to sale.

Re: what does the spid say?

As sstim said, it's very important to see the vin tag on drivers door jam and match up to the glove box spid as well as partial vin number located on top of frame near steering box. What I see pictured is not worth anything near the asking price.

Re: what does the spid say?

it looks like the vin tag is correct with rosette factory rivets , and no signs of tampering , on the spid you can see 2 digets of the 115 in wheelbase , the frame vin will be down by the power sterring pump on driver side top flange and will just be partaul starting with the plant letter in you case a 2z and then it should be the later #s , sometimes you have to scour the area with a brush , good luck with your quest , we have all done it it and sstim is the go to guy as in his avatar just the facts

Re: what does the spid say?

Even if all three control numbers match there is another red flag!

The truck has A/C and it is not on the SPID.

So it was added or the cab was swapped as was the rivited VIN plate.

This truck neeeds to be looked into by someone who KNOWS what they are looking at!

grumpy old man!! you have enlightened me greatly. there seems to be a few red flags. like it being originally a step side, the AC not being on the spid.

Re: what does the spid say?

that rivet on the VIN-plate looks as original as I've seen. I'd look behind the jamb to see if it was sectioned in, otherwise cab is correct for what it is. The question is, does it match the frame. Anyone can check the numbers on the frame against the other locations.

My biggest concern with that truck would be the extent of rust. Was it patched, painted, and now showing again or is that "original rust"? It appears to have been exposed to salt air a bit, just by the rust seeping above VIN-plate, that paint popped off the hood, and patched or replaced tailgate. I've seen trucks from the California coast rust worse than the average truck in my area where salted roads rusts everything
