Re: My 68 vice.
Plans were to get a nice bed and what not. but after stripping her down to metal, she had alot of bondo all over. not super straight but clean and only 3 rust spots. 1st thing i did was buy a $40 hei off of amazon, put a hi performance ICM; accel to handle the 60k coil. I should mention that I am assistant manager of a napa, here in oregon. turned wrenches professionally for subaru for 6years, went independent, then decided to pursue a masters in pharmaceutical sciences. currently working at napa for residency. couldnt find a rebuild kit for my qjet so i slapped a 600cfm edelbrock , adjusted to vacuum, got 21in out of her. took about 15mins of playing, driving, and adjusting.

Re: My 68 vice.
I didn't realize that the tach clusters were a rare commodity. old school customer let me know it was worth some money and a local customer bought it off me for $300. used the money to buy some MDF, Fiberglass kit, 4 in 1 summit tach and a HUD gps Speedometer since i doubt it was reading right with those 19.5" 12ply, load range F tires; 33in tall.
![]() ![]() I guess the old man put new tires on her before his passing. inquired about the cost of these meaty boy, les schwab told me they cost $450/tire. yikes. ![]() next thing i did was drain, clean and fill the diff. decided to take off the bed. stock all original, giant 1200lb monstrosity. took me about 6 hours, jacking, bracing, wratchet strapping to a tree, and using my wifes 2013 prius c with pulleys to hoist it vertical. n off my truck. ![]() de trimmed it and left her like that for a month or so. |

Re: My 68 vice.
forgot to mention i wire wheeled the rims and .96 walmart painted them. stripped the frame with a grinding pad and under coated her.
![]() ![]() you can see the bottom 2 corners have rust. was at a stop light and a car made a illegal uturn, i advanced forward going under 5mph to fill in the gap and my brakes desided to not work. bumped the guy in front of me. luckily he was a customer i knew and we both had old school trucks so no damage was done. my wheel cylinder had leaked everywhere and i had no fluid in my master. ![]() took about an hour of beating the drum to get it off the shoes were swollen from the brake fluid. new wheel cylinder and brake line, shoes, and spring kit went in alont with bearings n seals. ![]() |
