Rear Bumper decision?
Hey guys I'm going with the original patina look on my 64 but I just can't decide if I should pull the original dealership installed bumper or slap on some nice chrome bumpers on front/back or just roll with what I have? It has polished aluminum front grill BTW and all trim down the side!

Re: Rear Bumper decision?
on mine im putting some used chrome bumpers .
I have all used chrome to put on my truck too. I would go with the chrome bumpers and mabe a chrome 67-72 rear bumper with the 67-72 rear bumper brackets. Last edited by 60chevyjim; 02-25-2016 at 01:25 PM. |

If you're going to do aluminum grill and full trim then go used front and rear chrome sports bumpers.. If you're not going to do side trim then I'd say stick with that bumper you have (it's a cool piece)! Here's my 63 SWB BBW Patina build.. it has every trim piece that could come with it so the front and rear chrome bumpers and bumper guards finish the look.. I will also be using the original aluminum grill too (not pictured). Here's my 63 patina SWB Stepper.. No trim, white grill and bumpers.. plain Jane (except the caps) |

Re: Rear Bumper decision?
I was in the same boat decision what to do with the bumpers on my patina truck. Ultimately I fell in love with the heavy bumper on the rear and the original patina.

Re: Rear Bumper decision?
I think the bumper that's on it now looks like it belongs there. If it ain't broke....

Re: Rear Bumper decision?
All great advice guys thanks. I guess I'll wait and see after I put the new motor in and lower the truck if the bumper still works for me. I know I'll be curios to see what a chrome bumper would look like so maybe I could just swap them out from time to time, lol

Re: Rear Bumper decision?
Used chrome bumpers are the way to go..... especially with the moldings and a non-painted grill.

Re: Rear Bumper decision?
IMO, I dig the bumper that's on there, but if ya do decide on chrome, could ya hit a new bumper with some steel wool or something to knock some bling out of it. I don't usually support faux-Tina, haha, but this is an exception
