Re: 77' Sierra Classic 1 ton Crew w/ 21,000 miles
It's an awesome truck, but I think we have some time to go before they pull 35k. Considering how rare yours is, though - one ton crew cab that never got used and abused - you might get lucky at a Barrett-Jackson venue. I've seen pristine trucks from the 73-87 go for 6k all the way up to 20k, and usually the upper end ones went for that because of air ride and high-dollar wheels.
I would suggest you enjoy it and drive it. These squares have a "so dorky it's cool" feel to them and they look very unique on the road next to today's aero-bubble cars that all look the same.

Re: 77' Sierra Classic 1 ton Crew w/ 21,000 miles
The gentalman that walked up and offered that felt it was worth it. Too bad for him at the time that selling it didn't even cross my mind.
With many, when they have the money and have a love, an attachment, a deep appreciation or sometimes for a reason we don't understand, to a rare car or truck, cool or not, people pay prices that another person wouldn't. I've seen that take place with friends and people I know. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 77' Sierra Classic 1 ton Crew w/ 21,000 miles
In this bloody city the safest place for it, from both the roads and drivers, is on a nice driveway some where. In the middle of no where. Surround by fence.
To the OP, you mentioned collection... Are you interested or ever on the look out of adding say a suburban to you collection? I know of one just a few city blocks from me, across the street from Mcnally highschool infact. I stumbled onto it by mistake while i was there looking into another vehicle. The guy's dad bought it brand new in 72ish, 3/4 ton 2wd suburban with a 454. I forget the km's but they were low... VERY low. It has been garage kept its entire life and i don't think has seen pavement in many years. Original spare tire in the back with nubs on it still... I didn't crawl under it, but judging by the entire and interior I would put money on it looking very much like yours. Much like you I think he said he still had the window sticker, key chain, etc. He asked me value on such an object because he was considering selling it... I honestly couldn't tell him, cause i didn't want to offend him for the most part, but i honestly didn't know. If your at all remotely interested i could very easily get his info for you, feel free to PM me Scott |

Re: 77' Sierra Classic 1 ton Crew w/ 21,000 miles
Something that I was wanting to show everyone too was 2 optional items from the GM accessory catalog in 1977 that were special ordered with the truck new.
1 of the items was included on the RPO list. The first item is a AC Poly-Wrap Air Cleaner, pre-oiled that goes over the regular air filter. It has Never been installed and I circled it in red on the RPO list. The Second item is a frame mounted AC Fuel filter.

Re: 77' Sierra Classic 1 ton Crew w/ 21,000 miles
Can you even get the cartridge style fuel filters anymore that would work w/that set-up?

Re: 77' Sierra Classic 1 ton Crew w/ 21,000 miles
Russet Metallic 68 is the same main body color of my 77 Bonanza. Not many of that color were produced, best I can tell. Cab roof is the same as mine also, although, when I had it repainted, I fudged the top and insert color to be a shade darker toward Buckskin. They made the Buckskin color with 68 Russet Metallic also. Very nice truck you have there.

Re: 77' Sierra Classic 1 ton Crew w/ 21,000 miles
That truck reminds me of a 1973 Chevrolet C-10 Cheyenne yellow/white long bed that an elderly neighbor of my aunt and uncle had. He was the original owner and only drove the truck when he would go camping and pull his 20ft trailer. The truck was always garaged, dusted off daily and every time he would drive it the truck would be washed and waxed. I don't remember what the color was called but it was like a mustard yellow
