My 91 R2500 2wd suburban - plans for 4wd
I bought this truck from my wife's parents who have owned it since 1993. It was their kid commuter back and forth from Florida to Ohio when they lived down there.
I posted this truck on here when I first got it but I think I put it on a different board. Anyway, it's very clean minus the peeling paint. No rust, interior is nice. It has the 454, 4L80E combo with the tow package, 14 bolt with a posi. I am starting to collect parts for a 4wd conversion and I am planning to use a NP205 divorced passenger side drop transfer case with a Dana 60 front. My main reason is the 4L80E is in excellent shape and I am picking up the divorced transfer case for a pretty good deal. Has anybody done this on any 2wd suburban, truck, blazer? I would like to get some more info on the swap. I am still in parts collecting mode now and I have to finish up a few other truck projects before getting this started. |

It sure it a good looking truck. I've seen a lot of drivetrain swaps here but never one with a divorced transfer case. Is that the Dana 60 front?

Yeah I found a guy who sold me a divorced NP205, front Dana 60 and a matching 14 bolt with 4.10 gears.
The truck already has a 14 bolt but I'll need the gear set out of it. |

Did you get a cross member from him for the xfer case?

He didn't have the crossmember. The transfer case is from a dodge so it would most likely require some work to get it to fit up.
I will probably just fabricate a few mounts for it when I get to that point. |

Yeah it only would have been good for the center section where it attaches to the case.
