Doing static drop, coil bolts giving me grief - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

As the titles says installing drop coil springs front and rear, started with the back and man o man the bolts are tight as F!! I hit them with the impact, tried a 15" breaker bar, nothing! I juiced them with some fluid film to soak over night, they arent terribly rusted, I'm surprised they are being such a pain in the a$$!

Any tips or tricks from someone who's been down this road?

Yep the first thing I doing is soak them up with p b blast and wd 40 over night.. when all else fellas I cut the nut right in half and get a new hardware..

Also a small torch on the nut will do.. and put a pipe on that small breaker bar to extend it out by a lot more...15" ant going to do it..

X2 - heat, pb blaster and a super long cheater bar. And give it hell!

I used a 4' cheater and snapped them all off. The 3/4" air impact wouldn't touch those!

Well tomorrow morning they will get a taste of a 3' breaker bar, either they come loose or they snap off. Thanks guys.

pb blast overnite , then heat um up next day should do it

Well folks, 4ft breaker bar broke them loose, problem was inside the carrier were still box nuts and shallow ones at that, so the nut spins and there is no way you can get a decent bite on any of it, so I get out the cutting wheel and cut everything out, enough pu$$y footing around, hopefully the front isn't locked up like the rear was, obviously they were the original springs with original hardware. I know the front end has seen some updating. What a dirty morning!
