Backspacing on an 18" wheel
Hi guys,
I am sure this has been discussed many times and I did do a lot of searching on the board, but couldnt really find a clear answer. I am looking into a getting a new set of wheels. i want to run an 18" wheel. I have a 2.5 spindle, 2 inch spring drop in the front and shackle drop in the rear ( I will probably have to remove a spring or two to get the stance right). I dont have the body on the frame right now, so I cannot take measurements. But I would like to have the tires tucked up close as possible to the fenders without rubbing. Can you guys give me some recommendations on wheel sizes and back spacing please. I live in Austria so I cant order wheels, mount them to see how the fit, and then return them if its not right. I kind of need to get it right the first time as shipping and tax kills me. I have read some specs, such as a 18"x10" 5" backspacing for the rear. and 18"x9.5" 5.25" backspacing for the front. Does any of that sound right? I should add, I am looking to get the Vintage Wheels 427 wheel. They offer a 18x9.5" and 18"x11" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul |

I was just wondering if maybe there is a standard people know of with wheel size and backspacing and drop. The wheels I am looking at are offered in 18x9.5 and 18x11 and basically any backspacing I need. Thanks Paul |

Re: Backspacing on an 18" wheel
I'm running 18x9.5" with 285/40/18 all the way around, same drop as you. The front is tiiiiiight.... I havent driven it yet but I suspect some fender rolling is going to be in order.
