New gal from SoCal

Hello! While I don't own a truck yet I do have questions on one I would like to look at more closely. Currently, I own a 1970 Chevy Camaro and spend my free time working on it and have gotten great information from the folks on the wonderful second generation Camaro site known as NastyZ28.com.

Anyhow, I found the year and model of truck I really like but am very concerned about the roof rust (see pic). Now I don't have any welding or auto body work skills, so whatever needs fixing means I would have to find someone to do it for me.

I'd like to have 1970-72 Chevy truck to go with my 1970 Camaro. Plus I'd like something to drive occasionally that my husband and I can haul stuff in and not worry about how the paint looks. I really like the "patina" look of some of these old trucks, especially this one, but I want to make sure it doesn't leak or have any serious rust issues.

I've visited this site on and off and value all the insight and experience. So, any opinions or advice on this particular truck would be very helpful and appreciated.

Thanks!
Frankie

Welcome to the board neighbor!

The roof rot would steer me away from that one. I'd keep looking, you can find rust free trucks here much easier than most parts of the country.

I'm with leddzepp on this one. I would keep looking especially if I lived in Cali. It's surprising the roof is that bad in that area. That truck had to have spent some time in the salt belt somewhere!

Welcome! That truck is NOT worth even close to 3800 unless you love rust repair. lol Hope you find a better one, and in your area it should be easy. Pretty dry out there.
