tire size with c4 suspension
I just purchased a front and rear suspension kit from flatout engineering, my donor vette is a 96. i do not plan on notching the rear frame rails. my first question is what tire and rim size/backspacing is every one using. i don't mind tubing it if necessary, oh yeah it is a 55 second series short bed. my second question is it seems most of you move the front forward approx 1.5 inches by reading all the other posts. thanks in advance for your help

Re: tire size with c4 suspension
I'm running 92 C4 in back. 10" wide wheel +28mm offset (6.7" backspace), 285 width tire. Anything over 275 will need tubs. With the right offset, I'm guessing you can fit up to about a 305 tire. Anything more and it won't fit between the fender and the dog bones. Inside the rear fenders is 72", so keep the overall width less than that. +/- 28" diameter tire on the back, and about 27" x 245 width, in the front is a good starting point.
These rear axles are a little bit on the wide side. Most off-the-shelf wheels in this bolt pattern have a wider offset (-6 to +12 offset). This makes it a challenge to fit wide wheels and tires in the back. I would recommend getting the suspension installed first, then measure what fits. Also, you need 16" or larger to clear the brakes. Most use about 3/4" for 55-57. 1.5" forward in the front is for 58-59. Mine on C6 wheels with 2" adapters. F= 18x8.5, 225/45R18 R=19x10, 285/35R19 |
