Re: Trying to achieve a comfortable ride
I have installed my disc conversion and in the process of running the brake lines to have a completed job. A duel master cylinder and proportioning valve will also need installing as well. I did not receive a booster in the conversion kit but am curious if I should get one, ECE has instructed me that it is really not needed.
Can someone elaborate as to if there is a noticeable difference with or without to avoid unneeded extra expense or rework? |

Re: Trying to achieve a comfortable ride
Your brakes work just as good with or without. it's just easier to push the peddle.

Re: Trying to achieve a comfortable ride
My '63 is now my daily. I went with the ECE conversion as well. Running a booster with a bracket from CaptainFab here on the forum. Can't imagine running without power brakes given the amount of stop and go that I do here in SoCal.

Re: Trying to achieve a comfortable ride
I used to have power factory drum brakes on my '66 but decided to go manual when I went disc. I don't miss the booster at all. I don't have any trouble pushing the pedal and I sure don't miss seeing that big ol' "can" on my firewall.

Re: Trying to achieve a comfortable ride
I changed my Hei dist. cap, rotor, control module & vacuum advance module. My previous vacuum advance module was bad and decided to change everything else for a quick tune up. Since the change it runs a little rougher and backfires when revving up the engine all wires are correct in the firing order. Could this be happening due to not having vacuum advance before & now having it? The instructions called for it to be turned counter clockwise until it bottoms out which I did for the install, I have since tried to go clockwise to alleviate the problem. I have made several revolutions but the Allen screw does not seem to have any resistance like it originally had, could the screw have backed out and now it needs to be changed once again? Any info or similar problems experienced by someone to help with my problem would be greatly appreciated.
Also what is the best way to set timing and advanced timing for the best performance? |

Re: Trying to achieve a comfortable ride
I think you inadvertently posted in the wrong thread. This one is titled "Trying to achieve a comfortable ride" . Try asking in the "engine and drivetrain" section of the forum.
