65 C20 to 71-2 c10 five lug conversion - Why not?
My searches all showed using 73 & later parts for converting 63-66 C20 to five lug disc fronts. Couldn't find the reason not to use the 71-2 C10 parts?
Thanks

When I converted my 8 lug to 5 the only thing I could find was the newer stuff is more readily available.
I hit up Craigslist and Boom. A '79 front end complete was waiting for me. All I had to do was drill one hole on each side to install the whole cross member. Couldn't have been any easier. I don't know why you couldn't use '72 |

Depends on what your going for, originality or custom.

Not concerned about being original. Want 5 lug discs. Going to look at a 71 C10 front frame clip after work. It's complete steering box to rotors for $100

CCP now makes spindles to convert 3/4 ton front ends with 1/2 ton by using the 3/4 inch ball joint.
One thing i found out don't fu-k with the stock front end you will never get it back to straight. Before i took my 1965 3/4 ton truck apart i had no and i mean NO shims in my front A arms now i have too man and it drives like **** arms .Mine has every thing power steering disc brakes bower brakes front sway bar it hands sweet but I have to much tow or camber Running the 235/85/16 Michelin Rib tires that get 250,000 miles and you can re grove them 1 time for a extra 50,000 miles 10 ply radial tires made in France cost me 250.00 a titre money well spend ride like a Caddy fully load or not |

I have typically always used '73-'87 parts because they are readily available and much more affordable. Often times you can buy a complete running truck for $200-$500. Around here anything '67-'72 and particularly '71-'72, people think they are made of gold. Also I like to swap the entire suspension assembly and I prefer the '73+ rubber control arm bushings.
If you can get that entire front frame clip for $100, I would jump on it.
