What to put in Ignition Key Cylinder to make the key turn easier?
Lately, it seems like the key is a PAIN to turn, and sometimes it doesn't come back easily, so the starter will hang. Do I put graphite in there, or 3-in-1 oil, or what?

Never use 3-in-1 or any oil based products in locks.
Only helps to draw dust and everything else into the lock. That's what causes alot of problems. Use liquid graphite in the lock. It will dry and still do the work. Just be sure to wipe off the key since it will stain clothing. If this doesn't help you, it will be time to check the lock or column to find the culprit.

new doesnt always mean good. your ignition switch rack might be bad too.

Tim,
Go to any real lock smith shop and most will have some sort of lock cylinder lube it's a graphite type liquid specially blended for lock's. I got some years ago and it work's good. |
