Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Hey guys, I just bought a 6.0L L96 & 6L90E combo out of a 2016 Chevy Express Van. It has the new E78 ECM and I'm having trouble finding any pinouts / wiring diagrams to thin out the factory harness. Does anyone have any idea where to find this info? I've already contacted Brendan with LT1swap.com and he has told me that he doesn't have any info for that computer and doesn't tune them either.
If reworking the harness myself doesn't work out, I'm also researching companies that can provide a complete harness. I've reached out this weekend to Speartech, Howell, PSI and BP Automotive. Just waiting on a reply from any of them. Any other companies you might know that could help would be appreciated. Lastly, tuning, which is likely to be the most important. So far, I haven't seen anyone who has any knowledge of this ECM, or at least not listed on websites. In attempting to get info for the wire harness, I've also asked about tuning to the 4 companies I listed above. I'm new to this stuff, so any help you could give me is greatly appreciated.

Duane,
Send me a pm with you email and I will have my buddy from GM pull them. HP Tuners will do E78's so no problem there.

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Well, according to LT1swap.com, PSI and Speartech, the E78 ECM isn't supported or flashed by either of them. HP Tuners says the computer is the same as the 2016 Silverado HD, so it is supported by HP Tuners, but I can't just buy a harness for it. Looks like I'll need the diagrams to do it myself and possibly buy HP Tuners to learn it, or find someone who can tune it for me.
I really want to learn the HP Tuners stuff, so I might just go this route if I can thin the harness myself. We'll see if that works.

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
That's awesome, I'm sure it will help a lot, so THANKS I'll try to look at it tonight when I get home and see how it compares to my wiring and if I need more. I am curious though, the PDF only has the blue and black connector pinouts. What is the grey connector on the ECM for?

Just in case it's needed, here's what the E78 ECM looks like.

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Well, the diagrams are close (thanks Valarius!!!) but there are a few different colors and some missing wires. I'm also a bit unsure of the other wires and connectors that aren't connected to the ECM. I don't know which ones I need and which I don't. I've tried to use wire diagrams from earlier express vans, but they aren't the same, so I'm not sure if I can trust any of it.
Brandon (boostedc10) is trying to get some diagrams for the 2016 van from a friend. They've been having issues with clarity of the images so we're waiting on that issue to be resolved. Hopefully next week we'll be able to see the images clearly so I can get the rest of these wires figured out.

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Try looking here: https://www.gmupfitter.com/ Go to the "body builder manuals" and search for your vehicle the engine came from, likely in the "light duty" section. This only works for trucks & vans that can be converted to other uses, so no diagrams are available for cars.

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Ive looked in there Good info for sure, thank you vary much.today i called my local chevy house lucky for my the parts guy is an old friend of my Mondo.i explained to him my problem he said let talk to Dustin. Long story short i was able to het pin outs of a 2012 chevy l96 with 4l90e4x4 and pinouts for a 2012 chevy cruze along with a trans dip stick and some good information because dustin is also a swaper being he has ls swaped a pick up truck..the cruze pi outs i wa ted them.because it uses the same E78 ecm as the truck ecm and i wanted to run E fans on my truck engine swap. In ord er to do that since the truck ecm pinouts are not labled for efan i figured the cruze would and its dose however i have not tested them yet and i will post if they work.if anyone one has any questions i would be happy to help with anything that i have aquired.it hasnt been easy but i think i just about got this swap figued out.

I'm running stand alone, non ecm fans so you may need to start a new thread on that subject.

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Ok... I been working with the guys at hptuners forum,I'm to the point that this ecm e78 truck dose not run fans. It almost like there isnt software there to make the fans run with ECT temp.

Hey, I'm Dalton.
Doing the same swap. 2016 Express 2500 6.0/6L80. Gonna put it in a 1988 Chevy crew cab. I bought the whole wrecked van. Any hard lessons learned? Thanks! |

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Do not attempt to run engine until all sensor are installed and sure to work. Ecm sets permentent codes and will not clear untill you drive the TRUCK.. no big deal .. for me i used post cat 02 sensors with headers.. its realy picky on how fast the o2 sensors warm up and are ready..

This works great for the e fans as the ecm is not capable of running fans ..at least i couldnt make them ..tried everythign i could think of. This controller work perfect for me the fist time and havent messed with it just works. |

Re: Need wiring diagrams for 2016 6.0L/6L90 & E78 ECM
Thanks. Depending on space, I might just run the mechanical fan and build a shroud. I have a codescanner that can clear codes and I plan to probably purchase HP Tuners software to delete VATS and do some tuning. I'm mostly concerned with stuff like how to make my 1988 speedometer/odometer and other gauges work. Also, like the brake pedal position sensor and whatnot. Are there any big hurdles or good workaraounds/bolt-on mods that I might need to look into? I'll deal with the obvious stuff like motor/trans mounts, clearances, radiator hoses, a/c tubing...etc...
