What cab goes with what front end etc.
I started out looking for parts for my racetruck and the next thing you know I am insane. I found a short spring frame with a 5 lug rear and 5 lug disk front. Supposed to go get it tomorow but work got backed up, Oh well, next week. Anyway I have a thousand questions, most of which have already been answered somewhere probably. The questions mostly have to do with what frame fits what cab, which goes with which front end, which goes with which radiator support. You kinda get the picture. I have been searching around and I think what I want is a 67-68 front end. Here is a link to the truck I want to build. http://www.myoldtruck.com/forums/sho...?threadid=1436 I think it is in Texas but can't find the website again. I have the picture as the wallpaper on my computer. I will list the questions to make it easier to read and answer.
1. I have (Or better yet will soon have) a short spring frame which has been converted to a 5 lug rear and 5 disk disk front end. Will all year Cabs, Front Ends, and Boxes fit any year frame or are there certain ones that will fit certain ones? 2. If you checked the link, Is that a 67 or 68 frond end? It looked to me that the 67-68 front ends were the same and 69-72 front ends were the same. (Shape wise not trim wise or light wise) 3. Are the Cabs from 67 to 72 the same or are they different?? Meaning will they match up to the different year front ends and beds. I want a big window cab with that frond end. 4. Do I have to use a certain years radiator support for the 67-68 front end? 5. I want a wood fleetside bed. Do I have to find a wood bed or can I convert a metal bed to wood? These questions could go on forever and if you have read this far you probably think they already have, thanks for hanging in. To keep it from getting real long basically what I want to do is to build the truck seen at the link. With that frond end, with that bed, about that high. (Is that truck for sale lol) So if you know what that truck is made of and could offer me some guidance I would appriciate that very much. Thanks again. More questions to follow

1. Wheelbase is the deciding factor.Frames are the same.
2.67-68 same Except for trim and side marker lights on 68 3.Cabs all interchange 4.67-68 for those years.Gmc may be different.69 up doesn't fit 67-68. 5.You can convert.Probably cheaper to find wood floor bed if you can't do bodywork. Most of these questions can be answered in the FAQ's or body sections of this BB.

1. For the most part they will enterchange if done in a package(67-68 front ends fenders, hood wont fit the 69-72)but the whole clip will bolt right up to a 69-72 cab
2. (67) the cab has a small glass,68(most)have a large back glass and the 68 had side marker lights. 3. As a whole,YES, E brakes, length of window crank rods, rear view mirrors, ash tray mounts, floor hump on4x4,most stuff are just suttle changes that dont really effect major body changes 4.Wood floor, you might overlay it if you cant find the one you want but not factory. You might try the search for more info its hard to list every difference. good luck |

Thanks That about answered most of it.
Now it's time to find parts P.S. Someone directed me to a website full of pictures of his truck. It is a 67. P.S.S. I was wondering what the how to use the board faq had to do with this but I kept looking and found the other FAQ. Way cool. Thanks for the tip.
