How to mount new mirrors in side mirrors...?
A while back i was asking around on everyone's opinions on what type of truck to get. I ended up going with a 70 gmc lwb 2wd w/ a 350 and 4 speed munice, spell check, ( ill post pictures later). It is an all around it is a nice truck, besides the new rockers and passenger floor panel and rear cab mounts that are rusted out.
I'm working on small things first to get them out of the way to stay busy while im in school. Right now the small project is to sand down the mirrors and re-paint them. The mirrors were the original and had lost all of there reflection properties. So for 8 bucks i got 2 new mirrors(passenger and driver side). Now my question is, how in the french toast do these things go back into the mirror...the mirror style is the tripod legs that mount on the truck. The mirror itself is 7" W x 10" L.... Thank you in advance yall! Is there a special weather stripping i use, silicone..... |

Re: How to mount new mirrors in side mirrors...?
The glass is mounted in the mirror using a unique thick rubber "gasket". It's a tight fit so no adhesive should be required. There are some pictures in this for sale thread that may help.

I never had any luck trying to replace the glass mirror in the mirror heads. The whole head is more easily replaced. If you shop around you can find paintable replacement heads for about $5, heres a new stainless version for less than $15 delivered. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...36VFX70HX0CTAW
