Updated FUSE BOX?

I need to update from the original fuse box in my son's '63 stepside.

Can anyone recommend an affordable updated FUSE BOX?

If you are handy and can do it Check out the company called Rebel Wire. I rewired my 64 in 2 days and haven't had any problems in 5 years. I just used a battery charger for my 12 volt power until I was sure it All worked right.

If you're handy AND cheap, use a fuse block out of almost any newer junkyard vehicle with the blade-style ATO or Mini-ATO fuses.

I used a block out of my old 96 S10 Blazer, and just made sure to transfer power one wire at a time. The beauty is that now, evertime I make a junkyard run, I make it worth my while by grabbing a few car's worth of fuses. An additional bonus is that if I wanted to, I can expand and add more power to my fuse block in the future as I have more slots to add wires. Just make sure to keep any wires/connectors you remove from the block. They have a small retaining pin in the block that you can push with a small pick to remove the pin.

This is what I went with 21 circuit 17 fuses all wiring is marked every 6" or so stating what it goes to. Like right rear stop, radio, fuel pump, right front power window, head light, etc., etc.

Just because the wiring is there you don't have to use it, like the power windows etc. I still haven't installed it yet. I did open it up and check it out though and it looks good.

I don't need anything near that elaborate, and I don't need the wiring harness. I just need a very basic and affordable 'fuse box'

I used painless in my other truck and it was simple and easy. It is straight forward, but you also have tech support if you need it.

I found this one on amazon pretty basic kit "Wisamic 10 Circuit Basic Wiring Harness Fuse Box Street Hot Rat Rod Wiring Box Car Truck 12V" haven't installed it yet but it looks pretty well made and labeled..

If you just need a fuse box, grab one out of a basic car at the U Pull It yard. No need to spend lots of cash on a new part. Wire up the circuits you need.

Ok. First and foremost, I'm sorry this took me a bit to do. I've been working and doing a lot of favors for other friends. I managed to finally take some pictures tonight. Again I apologize if they're not clear. You can see where the original harness from the truck was wired into the new fuse block using butt connectors. The new fuse block was mounted to the firewall with a simple L bracket. The beauty of this setup as you can see is that it is expandable for future wiring needs. While it is not labeled, the fact that there are very few circuits from the factory means that if anyone is blown you can see it almost right away. I hope this gives you some insight on how to do this mod.
