Re: RPO E81 Fleetside Wood Floor

Sorry about resurrecting this thread but my question is best answered here so the info is all in one place.

Has anyone taken pictures of the steel sections between the inner fenders and the steel panel at the front of the bed.

I'd like to see how GM handled the seam between the wood support on the side and the one that bolts to the front panel.

If said pictures exist I'd really really appreciate you taking the time to post them.

Re: RPO E81 Fleetside Wood Floor

Hi hatzie,

This is the only pic I have handy at the moment ...
It's a close up of the right front corner. Just visible in the lower/right is the side flange where it meets up with the flange at the base of the front bed panel.

I'll see if I can get some additional pics in the next day or two.

No problem. I tried taking some more pics this morning but they didn't come out very good due to a lack of lighting in the storage garage. I'll bring a light with me and try again tomorrow.

The board widths (starting in the center and going outward) are: The three middle boards are each 7-1/4" wide. The next set of boards out are each 6-1/2" wide and are the ones with the large bed-to-frame mounting bolts passing through them. The next boards out from that are 7-1/8" wide and are the ones that are notched for the wheel tubs. And finally, the outermost boards are 8-1/8" wide and are cut to fit in front & in back of the wheel tubs.

Please be aware that these board widths are intended to work with the factory perimeter flange pieces used with the E81 wood floor option. The wood stops about 2" or so short of covering the full bed width and those flanges take up the rest. So if you're not using something similar to the factory flanges you'll need wider boards to compensate.
