73 Blazer front seat brackets - more leg room. Tall driver.

Hello All,

I am wondering how to get some more leg room out of the stock bucket seats on my 1973 Blazer. The seats are in pretty good condition. So I am thinking of keeping them not replacing them. I am tall, 6'7" and would like more leg room. I could probably fab up some way to move the seat back, but want to know if there are any other seat brackets I could use that might give me more room.

Does anyone know if later model Blazers had the same bolt pattern on their seat brackets, do they offer more leg room?

Any other tall drivers out there that have done so,etching to get more leg room?

In my experience, the different seats they came with don't change the seating position much at all. I'd probably pull the seat out and see what it would take to make the seat sit further back on the base.

Thanks for the reply. Currently my seat will only move back and forth. The back doesn't tilt back. So my thought was if a later model seat at least did that, then it might help some.

I am hopefully getting it in for paint and body work soon. I will try play around with the seat then. I'd like to move it back as far as I can. At that point, I could always move it up some if needed via its own slide. I would also like to raise it some and tilt it back.

Thanks!

88-91 Burb seats like this one will recline, someone posted that these seats were also installed in Blazers those years. It's not a direct bolt-on to the 73 seat bases but doable.

No, they are not. I assume they are stock, but they could be from another year. Thy look like original ones I have seen in other Blazers.

Just took this, so it is pretty dark. I like the seats. They are in really good condition.

Those look like seats from an early 80's Blazer. The vinyl fit is a little odd though, they look like they might have been reskinned.

With a flat floor like that can't you move the seat back and drill new holes?

I have a 73 K5 and I'm tall also. I'm planning on swapping out the orginal seats and putting in a set of seats from an 06 Suburban with the 3rd row seat in the rear for the K5

The seats that are in mine now are shorter than what you posted. The tops of the seats are close to level with the top sides of the K5

Re: 73 Blazer front seat brackets - more leg room. Tall driver.

Really? Those are the ones where they have the seat belts built in, right? I'm not a big fan of those comfort wise. I feel like I am too tall for the seat belt. I like the idea for the rear seat. But I like the later model 3rd row seat where the seat belt top mount doesn't stick up by itself. Plus the middle seat has a shoulder harness too.

I don't think the later model 3rd rows will directly mount in place of the Blazer rear seat. How do you plan to bolt it in there? I thought I saw aapter brackets that someone makes either on this board or a different one. I like the look of my front seats, but would lik shoulder harnesses. Especially in the back for the kids. I was thinking of doing a full cage and bolting some to that.

I want to se some pics when you get it installed! Thanks.

yes they're the ones with the seat belts in the shoulders.
None will be a direct fit or a direct swap. I was going to follow a few others swaps that are on here.
I'm going pretty slow with my build at the moment, it's gutted at this time for some rust repairs
