Re: Ttransmission Lubricant
Which 4 speed?
The SM465 any 80W-90 API GL-5 or MT-1 gear oil. DO NOT use Hypoid gear oil. The additional Sulfur in the Hypoid add pack will eat bronze bushings and synchros. The cautions about not using GL-5 are old and outdated. GL-5 has been reformulated to allow compatibility with bronze synchros. The MY6 & MM7 NP440/A833 originally used Dexron III ATF. GM 88861800 is the equivalent for manual transmissions and transfer cases that originally called for Dexron III ATF. It's not GM Synchromesh fluid and it's not Dexron II or Dexron III either.
