Re: best price on bedwood kit???
Theres a lot of discussion on kits. Ive read them all. I would personally find a local wood mill and have them mill the wood then order a hardware set from a reputable company.

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
If you ever want to leave it outside price should not be the deciding factor with wood products. Cheap wood and finish goes bad fast. Lots of information on the forum on how to avoid this heartache. Just use the search function.

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
Shipping, so location, is a major factor to consider when ordering "bedwood kits". This is one reason you see people recommending making or having made locally. And how well a floor holds up to weather has more to do with species than price. You can put some very expensive wood in there that would not stand up to moisture and heat any better than common lumber. I know you meant best price for same quality, not cheapest species

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
As stated above, lowest price isn't always best. When replacing bedwood you need the best quality for the money. There are a lot of factors you need to consider. Do you want daily driver or show quality. The elements will damage the finish on most woods. This company is close to me. Their prices seem high but the quality is second to none. Also try buy a kit from someone coming to a local show near you. You can save on shipping if you pick it up there.

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
Mar-K had a free shipping offer once. I didn't think they'd honor it for long-bed wood from OK to New England, but they did.

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
You can buy your lumber from a local supplier much cheaper, their wood is no better quality than anyone elses. You can buy the lumber for a third of what they are charging prep is where the quality comes in at. I am making my floor from walnut cheaper than they sell their pine floor for.

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
thanks for all the advice. I recently did a bed floor. did the wood myself and pieced together all the hardware to complete it. This time I want a complete kit dropped off at my house ready for finishing and install it without chasing parts. with all the holiday discounts I was looking for a good deal. the Brothers kit delivered to my house for less than $500 seems like a good deal to me. I think a little overkill on wood preparation is the key. just looking to see if anybody out there had used this kit or one similar. THANKS

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
I agree will all that's been said. It's all about what you can justify as "a good deal". I'm about to to a wood replacement on my bed, and decided to go with the "cut it myself" route. I do have the advantage of having all the woodworking tools in my garage, and found a local lumberyard with the Yellow Pine that I want. This part of the project will be coupled with the rear tank install, and the truck is near complete. Good luck on your project

Re: best price on bedwood kit???
Time is something I dont have much of at all... So I went with a LMC kit... No fuss no mess. The only holes I have to drill are for the bed sides to floor. I sat everything in place this weekend and was very satisfied at the fit.
