4X4 picture request
My son has an 83K20 that we know is a cobbled together truck and may at one time have been a military CUCV.. currently it has a 350 V8 with a 700R4 trans (overdrive) and what we think is a NP205 transfer case. He cannot bolt up the front driveshaft because the trans crossmember interferes with the driveshaft. Can you all post pictures of the crossmember he needs to get for this to work?

Re: 4X4 picture request
All of the k10 cross members I have come across have a recessed area to clear the front drive shaft. I wonder if someone just installed the cross member backwards. I have a couple sitting in the shop, I can get you a pic in a couple hours.

Re: 4X4 picture request
most likely you have a 208 tcase behind the 700. The 205 is a cast iron case. Being an '83 you should have the "tall" tcase adapter and a flat (straight) crossmember. If the tranny tcase combo you have came from an '85-up, you possibly have the "short tcase adapter, which requires the use of the '85-up crossmember, or a home built spacer to lift the tranny/tcase higher up. A mismatch of year model parts is most likely the reason you cant clear a front driveline. Post up a pic of your mess and I bet we can help you out.

Re: 4X4 picture request
The 700R4 and 205 were never mated together stock, so you either have an aftermarket adapter/output shaft, or you have different t-case. Later models of the 205 used a different output flange and driveshaft that may also have clearance issues with the transmission pan itself, as well as the crossmember.
