Bedrail mounting location?

Picked up some OE bedrails from eBay a few months ago and I'm finally ready to mount them and plan on doing so tonight or tomorrow night.

Where exactly do they mount, does anyone have measurements? I have pictures of my dad's truck from the 80's and it looks like they mount closer to the inside of the bed rather than center.

Re: Bedrail mounting location?

jus line them up in the middle of the holes on top of the bed an make sure there is an even amount of space from the mount to the hole in the top of the bed then get them in the middle on the top of the bed rail an measure how much space there is on each side that's how ima mount mine

They're dealer add-ons and original to the trucks. The suburban roof racks are the same thing with cross bars attached. They've got woodgrain on the rails.

You want to grab a measuring tape and take a few measurements for me to mount mine tomorrow? Mainly looking for where on the bedrails it goes as far as towards inside the bed or outside.

Re: Bedrail mounting location?

I never paid attention before but they are probably mounted towoard the inside so you can still install some side panels in the stake posts when needed.

Re: Bedrail mounting location?

Measuring my 85 short box the holes are 1-3/8" from the inside edge, look to be factory punched. the last hole is 2-1/8" from the stack pocket. Let me know if you need more info, the sides are buried in the corner of the garage but I can dig them out if needed.

Thanks for those measurements, it really helped when we put the holes on the bed this evening. Do you know how big the actual holes in the bed? As my dad recalls he said his punched holes were much bigger than the actual bolts.
