Drop uprights

Hi, I wonder if I can use front aftermarket 2" drop uprights from 49-54 Chevy car on a 51 3100 truck, thank you.

That won't work unless you have the independent front end out from under a 49/54 Chev or 54 to 62 Corvette under the car.

On the cars of those years the upright works like the end of the axle with the spindle fastening to it but the ends of the upright fasten to the upper and lower control arms. For the trucks we need a dropped axle to do the same thing.

Back in the late 50's and though the 60's a few guys did put one of those front ends under his custom truck for a better ride and to lower it. Usually on full custom trucks.

Those dropped uprights are crazy expensive, I should know, I had a 52 Chevy that I installed dropped uprights on. I drooled over the for a year but could never pull the trigger on buying a pair. Then came across a used pair on eBay, still cost me over $300 for the dropped uprights and steering arms.

I think a dropped axle would suite you better.

I would think that there was someone with a shop who is in the Swedish hot rod community that drops axles for others.

You could order a dropped axle from Sids as the majority of us who run a dropped axle under our trucks here in the states have Sid drop it or buy one from him and pay the core charge. I don't have to explain shipping costs on that though. http://www.droppedaxles.com/

Speedway sells one that is made up of forged ends with a square steel tube in the middle but along with it looking more than a bit crude the welded up assembly may not pass European suspension requirements.
