Should I ......
Got a 71 with rear leafs. Should I pull some leafs to lower the rear some then use shackles, or buy new lowered leafs ? Eventually I would buy the lowered leafs, but I am wondering what damage if any would/could be caused by removing a couple of leafs. They are heavy duty leafs too. what leafs should I remove if I do ?
Mike

eventually a 4/6...what all do I need to do the axle flip ? Also, one one the springs is broken, so I'm going to remove at least one on each side.

If I understand axle "flipping" correctly, you have to cut and re-weld the spring perches from the tube, because you don't flip the axle end to end. The housing stays the same direction, so the perches need to be on the opposite side of tube.
Quite often you do have to notch the frame with a extensive drop, or risk slamming it on frequent occasion. Just re-calling some "truck magazine" articles from the past. I may be behind the times, though. If so, I can stand corrected. ------------------ ken OK, 74429 '69 C/10 LWBowtie could be a daily driver, ... some day ... I did the flip kit thing on my 75 Jimmy and did not notch the frame and it does bottom out rarely but has a DAMN good ride for how low it is.

you can get a pair of C-notch brackets for about 100 bucks, they are red, but I forget the manufacturers name that carries these.
