Re: Mecum Auction C/K 1500 Big Money

Dont believe that BS ...even for a moment.

There were scams going on way back in the 90's and it still goes on today.

You put your junker up for auction and have your friend bid the price up to a previously agreed value.

and Boom

your toad is now doubled tripled or what ever in value

You get the prestige of having go across the block, so its documented, plus you've dramatically increased its value.

and all it cost is the auction entry fee. The car never really changes hands, or if it does its only to document a paper trail.

It all but ruined the corvette market and for what, to placate some weasle wick stool who's ego and one upmanship is wrapped up in his junker. They serve alcohol at these events so what does that tell you.

But then there is that one mentally ill person who pops up out of nowhere and throws stoopit cash out the window. Severe Obsessive compulsive disorder can manefest itself in many ways.

Also, some Body shops who want to build a reputation for doing hotrods and custom cars will put a vehicle through an auction so they too can generate bragging rights.

its a different market than the one we are all interested in here on this board. so we cannot fathom. Think of Donald Trump and the realestate market only not real estate but cars(trucks). No disrespect to Mr. Trump as president.

auctions are just like any other used car venue. Stoopit money

And somebody mentioned Bare it and Jack 'em. They were the worst offenders knowingly allowing these scams to go on. They benifitted too because of the fees they earned but more so the prestige and bragging rights of being allowed to claim that cars bring the big money at thier auctions.

Nope. once these vehicles get caught up in the auction frenzie, its essentially over. Its no longer about the car. The car gets pimped out by the predators in the market

Its a parts truck with an Earl Shribe paint job. Stoopit people and stoopit money. anywhere else and it would not even be a trailer queen.

Bid with confidence!
