Help! Broken bench seat spring

Hi. I am restoring and recovering my 1968 bench seat. Everything is good except that one of the funky looking "C" shaped springs is broken. I think if I weld it, it's just going to break at the weld. Does anyone have any ideas for replacing this spring?

Re: Help! Broken bench seat spring

I used the replacement side springs for the earlier seat. Got them from LMC.

Side note - probably the only thing I would buy from LMC.....

Anyway, they are not the same. I cut off both ends of the spring, and spring is held onto the top with only one metal "keeper", not two as original.

It is working so far without any problems. It is definitely working better than a broken one.

Re: Help! Broken bench seat spring

Thanks Z-man. I looked through the catalog a couple of times and totally missed it. But thanks to you, I found something that might work. Heck, for $4, how far wrong can I go? Thanks again.

Re: Help! Broken bench seat spring

I only had one broken spring when I rebuilt my seat. Took a piece of welding rod and bent it like the other side and tacked it into place. No problems.
