Fuel tank selector valve leaking!!!!!
I have an 86 GMC short bed two wheel drive truck with dual fuel tanks. My problem is the selector valve that allow you to switch from one tank to another has a crack in it and its spilling gas everywhere. I went to Napa Autoparts and at a Chevy dealer with no luck, also loooked on LMC, and Brothers with no luck. Does anyone know where i can get another one? Any help would be greatly appreciate, thanks Michael from Arizona.

Re: Fuel tank selector valve leaking!!!!!
The GM and AC Delco part number is 14029228. I just bought one a few months ago for some where around $100 if I recall. It is the same Pollak valve that you find at Napa or anywhere else. Someone has to have one at a decent price. A GM stealer will probably put the screws to you for it though.

Re: Fuel tank selector valve leaking!!!!!
Does anyone know the pressure rating on these fuel tank selectors? I'm planning to put a TPI setup in my truck at some point. I'd like to run my pumps in the tanks but that would require the fuel tank selector to handle the pressure.

Re: Fuel tank selector valve leaking!!!!!
Yes, it is 65 PSI max pressure for that valve. You can find the spec sheet on that valve on Pollaks website.
Funny you should ask that question as I just put a 8.1L in my truck and had to bypass the valve as the return line that runs through the valve back to the tank is too restrictive and caused the fuel pressure to run around 100 PSI, which is way too high. I decided to run a Corvette in-tank pump on the RH side as well as an aftermarket center mounted high volume low pressure pump to transfer fuel from the LH to the RH tank and do away with this valve all together. The Pollak switch valve discussed above was not designed for high fuel pressure systems. TBI only ran around 12 PSI with the return pressure no more than a dribble. The MPI on my Marine controlled 8.1L and your TPI require around 38 to 43 PSI with a clean restrictive free return line back to the tank. I am sure you will find this valve too restrictive on the return side as well which will cause fuel pressure issues at the engine.

Re: Fuel tank selector valve leaking!!!!!
The 5/16" line is for vapor and the 1/4" is for fuel return.
