can i get some help on engine swap

I have questions about swapping a 350 into a 66 c10 concerning the transmission the factory straight drive cross member has anyone used it with the original bell housing and a Muncie 4spd? and have you had any header clearance problems? if not then fine. or should I remove it and go with a bolt in with the rear trans mount? I understand I will need to get a longer driveshaft and have it cut down either way.
on another topic the 292 six starter bolts to the bell housing and according to my research should work with the 350 and has more torque than a v8 starter any body done this?

Re: can i get some help on engine swap

My truck had a M-21 in it using the bellhousing mounts when I got it. No issues there. The headers that work with the stock crossmember hang pretty low is the only draw back I can think off.

Re: can i get some help on engine swap

If you stay with the original bellhousing, you simply need a set of headers made specifically for these trucks. Hedman 69260 is the one you need that will clear the clutch bellcrank and the collector will be just under the bellhousing crossmember. The issue with most shorty or mid length headers is clearance for the clutch bellcrank.

that is much needed info thanks the engine came with headmon headers but was out of a 68 c10 by all my figuring they should work but I have my fingers crossed. I'm doing this with my 17 year old son on his truck. so trying to get ahead of problems were going to try to set it in sat
