Bent frame rail
Changing my oil last night and I see my frame rail, the bottom part of the c channel is bent down. Hard to see in the picture but it's significantly bent down. Is this typical? What causes this? Bone stock truck besides a static drop. 305 3 speed on the column. So no frame twisting HP.
Anything to be worried about? Any ideas how to straighten and beef up? It's bent down right near the front of the fuel tank. Driver side |

Re: Bent frame rail
It's like that to clear the catalytic converter. It sure seems strange though doesn't it?
Here's a post I made asking the same question a while ago: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=706375 |

Re: Bent frame rail
Ya know after taking another look I almost was wondering that. Mine has the cat still on it, and it would sure be a tight fit with out that bend. Thanks guys!!

Re: Bent frame rail
Yeah its stock from them adding cats,And i sure it was probably cheaper to bend it vs redesigning a frame rail mid body run.
