I have a 71 chevy truck, i have a instrument panel with oil pressure gauges and such that i purchased. my truck currently only has speed and fuel gauge. Do i have to run wires for the other gauges or are they already there anf just need plugged in?

Re: Help with instrument panel
Welcome captain. Here's some info:
Wiring diagrams: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=738404 Idiot light to gauge conversion threads: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=295681 (this one is very helpful) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=645940 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=598240 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=592617 If you notice the little "Google" box in the upper right part of your screen, you can find much of what you're looking for with a quick keyword search. Make sure to click the "67-72chevytrucks.com" radio button before you click the "Google" button so your search results only come from the site rather than the whole interweb. |

Re: Help with instrument panel
on our old trucks there is a 1/8" steel tube that runs from the engine block, right next to the distributor, through the firewall and screws onto the back of the oil gauge on your new dash....you have to remove the plug on your engine block, and screw the brass fitting in there then hook up the tubing...if i were you , I would try and get the fitting and tube from a wrecking yard, the one from a 70's square body truck will work also,i think it was late 70's when gm changed to an electric oil sender and gauge, which will be of no use to you....if you cant find one, I may have one I could send you....

If you can't find an oil pressure line I make them up with all of the correct fittings, including the block fitting. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=613373 I also posted a thread with the tube bending measurements listed on the pictures. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=613238 LockDoc

Read the bottom 4 links Jocko posted. They should explain everything. Member Tbone1964 is very knowledgeable about the conversion and his thread is included in those.. LockDoc
