Been lurking, now truck is done

I've been lurking on this site and others for some time now. I just wanted to thank you all for the inspiration and hope that you provided with your ideas and build threads. I finally got my truck done (almost) and it is drivable. Very happy with the way it turned out. Couldn't have done it without all of you. Thanks, Shane

Very cool. Did you do the paint yourself? I'm pretty sure we all consider "driveable" and "done" to be synonymous

Re: Been lurking, now truck is done

Thanks for the compliments. Still have a few loose ends, like the interior and clean up the wiring. I didn't paint it myself. I am very happy with the guy who did it though. That's way out of my skill level. Been raining so no more driving but it's ready for the dyno when the weather breaks.

Re: Been lurking, now truck is done

I've been driving it a little and found a few things that need more attention. The first road test was impressive, power wise. But the tranny didn't think so. Changed the tranny cable for it to shift right on a 700r4. Lost 3rd and 4th gear. It was used and I didn't expect much from it. Bought a built tranny that will hold up to 600 horses. Brake light switch wasn't working right so I replaced it. Changed throttle cable to a heavier duty one. Now I'm waiting for some good weather so I can take it for another road test. Nearest dyno is 45 miles away. Just waiting for a good day to take it down there and see what it has.

Looks very nice!
I'm doing a Flatout C4 build also, did you change anything from their instructions? I'm wondering about locating the front wheels in the wheel wells.

I moved the cross member but I can't remember if it was in their instruction or I read it on here. Either way, I like how it looks.

Re: Been lurking, now truck is done

The fronts are 245/45/17 and the rears are 275/40/17. I bought them and the Foose wheels from a guy that bought them and they did not fit his El Camino. They were exactly what I was looking for and half price.

Thanks, do you remember how much you moved it- forwards or back?
I started doing a stock frame off and when I had the frame bare I decided to go the C4 route. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
I love the stance of your truck and hope I can get my 57 looking the same.

I can't remember. I did what everyone recommended with the cab and fenders on and welded it in. A lot easier with the body parts on so you can see how it looks. I cant find my paper work on that part of it. Sorry

I do have a few pictures. The rake isn't as much in person as it looks in the pictures.
