That white Chevy looks like it's got some weight on it.

Re: Farmersville TX 1970’s
I loved those days where almost everything on the road had style. Chevys looked like Chevys,Fords looked Like Fords! Now every thing looks the same.

Re: Farmersville TX 1970’s
This is where I live. The Historical Society in Farmersville has done an amazing job working with the Downtown shops to help preserve this look. The parades here are so delightful. Our family moved here from a big city about ten years ago and I wouldn't go back. Love small town USA.

Re: Farmersville TX 1970’s
I thought crosslink powder-coating was in Farmersville but I am mistaken. I used to live in McKinney and used them. Now I live near Waco, strange how the memory works.

Re: Farmersville TX 1970’s
I got to wondering what all those trucks were doing in that one spot. Then I realized it's all stores across the street, and the picture was taken from in front of the bar! Must have been Beer:30!

Re: Farmersville TX 1970’s
Ya DFW grew so much there was a mass of housing projects that went north into Collin County. Up until then it was a dry county, heck I bought a house there then. I was a bit taken back but they changed after a while when it became an issue. I used to drive north into Melissa to buy wine/beer, they built massive stores on the county border.

That's funny, and cool history. It's interesting history of why county's decide to go dry. It's not just religion. Makes you wonder what went on for a county not to want some of that tax action! But prohibition gave us the income tax, liquor tax was 1/3 federal revenue. Hey, prohibition is gone... but the income tax stuck! Because income tax brought in 9 times more revenue! ![]() Cool info! ![]() j

Re: Farmersville TX 1970’s
I suspect some sort of town hall or other meeting was happening where a decision or discussion was being made/held that was of some import to all those truck drivers!
Either that or the local department store was having a sale? -klb

Re: Farmersville TX 1970’s
The area was very agricultural back then, there wasn't any major factories just horse, cow, dairy etc. So not driving a pickup would be out of the norm.
