Stolen blazer / question about VIN
Hello, I registered here just for this question. My 71 blazer was stolen from the restoration shop it was in. Stupidly the metal Vin tag on the door jamb was removed by someone who didn't know what the hell they were doing but that's another story. My blazer was stolen and I'm wondering if the police come across it will they be able to identify it by the partial Vin stamp on the frame? I'm just concerned since it's just a partial Vin and not the entire thing..

Re: Stolen blazer / question about VIN
Yes.
It will have the model year and assembly location as well as the last six digits of the VIN. That locks it down enough that they will be able to make a positive ID. (assuming they can locate and read the partial VIN on the frame, and that it has not been modified or ground down). K
