How many '60-'66 "only drivers"?

How many here have their '60-'66 as the only thing they drive? I have my old $400 Suzuki GS850G when I feel like riding a motorcycle, but no other driving cars/trucks right now. If I need to drive somewhere, pull a trailer, haul something, etc, I'm in my (actually currently crashed but still driving) '65 C30. I've logged around 60,000 miles on it in the last five or so years I've been driving it. Actually drove 110+ miles a day for a while (months), although I'm thankfully much closer to work now. I'm wondering how many other people on here drive theirs as not just their normal daily driver, but their only driver?

One of these days I'm going to sell my 07 mustang, leaving the 65 GMC 1000 as my daily driver. Of course my wife has a car, and I have a 97 Suzuki GSF1200S Bandit. I put <3000 miles a year on my cars myself, so shouldn't be much of a hardship to go down to just the truck.

I have been commuting about 95 miles a day in my 63. Getting 17.4 mpg, it's all highway. The tbi 350 and 4l60e combo really make the trick nice on the highway. 77 mph is 2500 rpm on just a whiff of throttle. We have a spare car just in case but I use mine every day for everything. The only times I'm not driving it is when I have to work on it but since I got it together the only problem I've had was a bum electric fuel pump. I've put about 6000 miles on it since I got it back together. I did the whole nine yards all at once, crossmember swap, power steering and brakes, fuel injection and overdrive. Drives like a new truck.

I daily drove mine for about 8 years but since about 2012 I have been fortunate enough to own a rice burner for the mileage and put more attention on my truck for upgrades and appearance improvements.

I have other vehicles and I drive my 1970 jeep to work most days (1 1/2 miles each way) but I have been driving my 63 for 37 years. If I need to tow or haul it is what gets used even if it is across several states.

My 66 is my daily driver and about 50 miles a day back and forth to work. I do have an 03 dually that I use to pull my car trailer and my camper. Never know when you will need a spare. The 66 had a trans failure this week so the dually has been pressed into service.

I drive mine a lot. I am going through it because next year my daughter starts driving and she will be taking my 07 Sierra and I will be driving the 65 full time.

I picked up my 1966 C10 in 1980 it's been my daily driver for 38 years. In 1995 I installed 350 TBI & 4l60e drove it 418.000 miles. In 2016 the 350 TBI was replaced with a 5.3 LY5 & 4L80E. I have put on another 13500 miles on it. Every day somebody asks if it is for sale.(Nope)

Well, at this point my '66 Custom Camper is my 'only driver' because the '56 (Studebaker) Parkview's brakes don't work. I quit buying and driving cars that enrich the Brown family years ago.

Daily drove this for years. Same combo I run today, just just looks worse. I worked 4 miles from home round trip.

I don't quite get to use it as my only driver, but I wish I could! It's my preferred driver! I work in Real Estate and have to haul around other people frequently, so the truck just doesn't have enough seats. I've considered trying to find an old crew cab to build and then use that as a daily driver and sell my Mercedes.

I have a 65 Suburban that is my daily driver around town.I work in Sedona and it's av44 mile round trip and the beast only gets between 6-10mpg. I need to get new gears as it has the 3:73's and a worn out 283. Long trips we use our '03 Crown Vic Police Interceptor. It gets about 22mpg.

My '66 C-10 is my only 4 wheeled vehicle right now, not counting the wife's, son's and mother in law's cars. I have a long commute, but do it by motorcycle most of the time. I did drive the truck quite a bit to work back in January. We had an unusual few weeks of very cold weather this year.

I had a 53 five window that was my only vehicle for years when I was in the Navy. Had a 327ci and a 350 with a 9" rear end, started in 1979 driving it all through recruiting duty in Las Vegas (no air just heat) and then when I was on the Kitty Hawk at NAS North Island I would park it on base when we were at sea. I got used to watching the road conditions so I could counter steer (stock steering and I-beam axle) when need be. When I sold it the guy who bought it he had never driven an old vehicle before, he thought it should drive like a new IFS vehicle and was not happy about it after a while. One of the finagler's bought it from him on the cheap by using his perceived misery against him. Sorry I every sold it.

My '64 is my only vehicle aside from a few motorcycles. I've recently finished making it a reliable daily driver though with a crate LS3/4L65E, air ride, new glass.. etc.

I have driven for 37 years with just liability and probably not going to change.
If something happens as it did two winters ago I will just fix it.

I drive my good ole 65 GMC everyday rain, shine, snow, whatever. Usually 28 mile round trip per day. It looks a little rough. but so do I.

I still drive mine every day as long as no snow or ice is on the ground. I'm retired now, so the miles are next to nothing compared to when I drove 75 miles round trip to work daily.

Why did you get turned down?

Maybe because my truck is in a carport in a backyard, behind a power gate in the driveway. At first I wrote 4,000 miles and then went to 3.000 miles then 2,500 miles. Maybe I drive it to work. I guess it's because I don't drive it to car shows and ice cream parlors. They said casual driving five months out of the year. So i didn't qualify under their terms.

Try Heacock. That's who I'm using right now. 6000 miles a year but you can pick your cap. I will get "normal" insurance when it becomes my daily driver but for now this works for me. Collector car insurance isn't designed for dailys and I'd imagine you would have an issue getting paid out if something happened.

I've only had my 60 long bed stepside a month but it is my only ride. I've sold my other japanese truck. Running a 235 and 4 speed. Running tall 16 inch rubber on the back helps mileage and road speed. There is a family car for when the four of us need to go out though.
