I ran into this one time.....take a look at the end of the tail shaft on the 400. Is it drilled & threaded? If so, they do have a stop inside for the yolk(not a slipyolk, but a bolt on stationary yolk). My 78 3/4 ton was that way, & didnt need the slip in the trans, due to the slip in the center of the 2 pc shaft. If you have this setup, you can get around it by having a driveline shop add a slip/n/ slide to your 1 pc shaft,(like a 4x4 shaft) & run a bolt on yolk. Good luck,crazyL
