Dbw harness 2 wire plug
I bought a harness for my Gen 3 5.3. It is a stand alone harness and the builder said the dbw needs to be out of a 01-02 tahoe or yukon. I can not find one anywhere. Is he mistaken or do I just need to try and figure something else out? It is a 2 wire plug that is throwing me off.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
There are some 01-02 trucks that got DBW, but usually it was the Escalade/Denali and top option trucks. Which PCM does it have?

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
It has the red and blue connectors on it. All I know is that it is flashed with a basic tune so I can start it once it is together.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
So what exactly are you needing? All of it, throttle body, TAC module, pedal and the harness between the two? I had some extras but may have sold them, would have to check.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
I haven't been able to check what all I have left, but for reference, this is what the throttle body looks like. What year is the engine you have? Because there are differences in the intake that make swapping the '03 TB not a straight forward deal. Also, if you get a newer harness to go with the '03-07 DBW stuff, you will need a newer PCM as well. Or, you could go with a cable throttle body with a different harness, or mod the one you have, and your PCM could be tuned to DBC.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
Do you know what year the motor is from? Does it have a TB on it right now for reference?

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
It was a used motor and has the truck intake without the throttle body. Figured I would have to get it all to match so I wasn't to worried about it. I should have read up more. Turning into a pain. I appreciate all the info.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
Does the intake have the PCV tube on it right behind the throttle body? If it does, then it's an '03 -'07, but if it does not, then it's a '99-'02. The older '99-'02 throttle bodies have this tube on them, so you cant put the older throttle body on the newer intake because they hit each other. If you go the other way, and have the older intake that has the tube on the TB, and you put on a newer TB, then you wont have a PCV tube at all... So, post up a pic of what you have so we know what you're working with.

Here is a picture of the intake. All I had on my phone. I can grab better ones when I get to the house.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
Thats a 99-00 intake, so you will need the older throttle body. Is there any reason you want the engine to be DBW? Seems easier to just find a DBC throttle body and rework the harness and PCM. I looked in my stash, and all I have is the newer stuff, but I see the older stuff at the Pick n Pull pretty regularly.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
Just because I thought it would look cleaner and everything was programmed for it. I really appreciate all the help on this. I will keep looking for a dbw until it is ready to go in. If I can't find one by then I will start cutting the firewall and doing dbc.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
not sure what yr truck your working on but I switched my 2002 6.0 from dbw to dbc...on my 81 I used the existing throttle cable firewall hole to run the cable thru..no need to cut firewall..its hidden under the engine cover and you cant see it...
I think ive still got that dbw throttle..its off a 2002 6.0.....but I don't know if its the one you need...ls1nova will know for sure

65 C10 is what I am putting it in. Pulling out the 350 and putting this 5.3 in it. Just trying to get all the parts I need for it before I pull it out.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
You need a wiring harness, tac module, TB, and pedal assembly from a 2002 or older DBW truck/suv. Preferably all from the same vehicle, and if you can get the computer with it all the better. Basically if it has red/blue instead of green/blue and isn't from a car it should work for you. There weren't a whole lot of DBW trucks in those years it was mostly SUVs.

Re: Dbw harness 2 wire plug
If you want to sell it WildKarde let me know. If it is the plastic one. Thanks Mongo, still changing stuff on it. Going to have to redo the suspension on it. Not happy with how it handles. I know it won't be a Bette but don't want a bus either. Lol. Nova I am going to owe you a beer with all the help you are giving me.
