Calling K5 swappers..
I am going to be helping a good buddy do a swap in a 72 GMC Jimmy. The plan is a Connect and Cruise LS3 with 4L70E and NP205 transfer case.
Being my swap (63 C10 Race truck) was originally done in 2006, all major items were custom at that point. In addition it is 2wd. So while I have a lot of first hand knowledge there (and other swaps in varying chassis) it is somewhat irrelevant. This swap should represent what GM would have put in this truck today. So we would like to keep as much of the stock parts as possible (Accessories, exhaust manifolds etc). What I am looking for is to understand the mechanical parts used in your swap and challenges those parts provided. Here are my first thoughts: Motor Mounts: Dirty Dingo with Truck adapter - but would like input Did you use a truck oil pan? Trans Cross Member: Bowtie Overdrives Use factory truck style accessories including AC - Does this pose any issue with inner fenders, frame etc? Did you use stock manifolds with out issue? What manifolds did you use? If you used a NP205 transfer case what did you do to make it work? What tail shaft did you use? First thought is to swap out the front axle which isn't a big deal but just want to know what you used in order to get front drive shaft alignment with front differential yoke. If you used a different T-case to retain the stock front differential, what parts did you use? Where did you mount the ECU and TCM? What did you use for a fuel tank? Did it have an in-tank pump? What did you do to retain the factory column shifter? Any info on adapter or cable used would be helpful. Any other mechanical things I am over looking? Thanks in advance!

Re: Calling K5 swappers..
sounds like itll be fun....I know the 91 burbs had solid axles and a 4l80 with np241 pass side drop transfer case...may not help you any...
on the a/c I think youll have to use a high mount for it I used stock tank with inline fuel pump on my last build...the aeromotive stealth phantom in-tank pump kit is a very nice setup....im thinking of using one on my current build with the stock tank might want to think speedo and gauges if he is keeping stock dash

Re: Calling K5 swappers..
I was thinking that this would have caught a few more replies. Kind of bummed out there isn't more info trickling in.

Re: Calling K5 swappers..
I used these Dirty Dingo mounts and cross member and it worked great. F-body pan.
https://www.dirtydingo.com/shop/index.php?cPath=359_369 I used this for the 4l80e to np205. http://www.advanceadapters.com/produ...h350-or-sm465/ I used this Boyd Welding tank with Aeromotive Stealth 340 in the tank pump. http://www.fueltankparts.com/replace...3-72-c-10.html I used a Lokar shift linkage kit but don't have the part number right now.

Re: Calling K5 swappers..
Here are my first thoughts:
Motor Mounts: Dirty Dingo with Truck adapter - but would like input What is the truck adapter? I used the engine cross member and mounts from Pacific Fabrication / Tilden Motorsports as the engine won't fit down in the factory 4wd crossmember. Dirty dingo makes a crossmember for 4x4s as well. Did you use a truck oil pan? Yes Trans Cross Member: Bowtie Overdrives - I used stock, in the stock location. Use factory truck style accessories including AC - Does this pose any issue with inner fenders, frame etc? On my 5.3 the AC compressor will barely fit in the frame, but doesn't leave you much room for any sort of hose fittings / connections. Not sure where your AC compressor is on your LS3 Did you use stock manifolds with out issue? What manifolds did you use? Stock LS3 manifolds will work. If you used a NP205 transfer case what did you do to make it work? What tail shaft did you use? I used the full kit from Advance Adapters. It lets you keep the transfer case in the same position, which in turn lets you keep your driveshafts. You have to swap out a different output shaft (comes with the kit)...one thing I would make sure of is that the kit works with your tranny. Mine was for a 4L60E. First thought is to swap out the front axle which isn't a big deal but just want to know what you used in order to get front drive shaft alignment with front differential yoke. Use the AA kit and bypass this one. If you used a different T-case to retain the stock front differential, what parts did you use? Where did you mount the ECU and TCM? Mine are currently on the inside of the cab on the passenger firewall. I will be relocating to the glovebox eventually. What did you use for a fuel tank? Did it have an in-tank pump? 91 blazer tank (30 gallon) and sender. Used EP381 in tank fuel pump. Works perfect. What did you do to retain the factory column shifter? Any info on adapter or cable used would be helpful. I used the Lokar 1800 adapter, works great. Any other mechanical things I am over looking? cooling / radiator - I used entropy with the dual stage electric fans. Works flawlessly.
