entire body swap
What sort of issues am I going to run into swapping a complete body from and 84 chev 1/2 ton onto a 1974 3/4 ton 4x4? are the cab mounts in the same place or did GM move the mounting point around? it will be an occasional driver but mainly hunting and fishing truck.
Thanks in advance, Chip |

Re: entire body swap
Search be your friend. Been covered a lot here.
Use the body mounts for the year of the frame, steering columns and wiring are different, front clips bolt on the cab different, are the ones that come to mind immediately.

Re: entire body swap
If you are using the entire body from the 84, you will have no issues with how th clip bolts up, biggest is make sure you use the body mounts for the 74 frame. I actually am in progress of this exact swap, cab is going on this weekend, the only mods I had to make to anything was the front bumper, the frame horns had to be cut back at a 45 degree angle to mount my 84 bumper.

Re: entire body swap
73-80 frames are a little more adaptable for mounts. I used factory front wheel ford windstar front K-frame for Cab, Dodge caravan rad support for the Rad support. This drops cab all most 2" and tighten up the cab that you will find. I run the truck like that for 6 years no troubles
