NP 203 to a NP 205
I am planning on taking out my NP203 that is in my '83 and replacing it with the NP205 that is in my '80. I am wondering what if any problems I might come into. Will this bolt directly to my tranny or are the shafts different? Both trucks have a TH350 in them. I am stripping the '80 and if I need to I will rebuild the tranny in the '80 to make it work but the one in the '83 is good and has no problems.

i am not positive, bu ti think that they mount differently to the tranny. so you could just pull out the transfer case and tranny together and swap them from the 83 to the 80 since they are the same tranny. and it would be easier that way, i found it easier to pull them together thn separate.

i am not sure about mounting pattern or spline count, but i do know that the NP203 and adaptor is prolly longer than the NP205 and adaptor, so your driveshafts will need to be changed.

NP 203 to NP 205
Hey. A stock 83 1/2 or 3/4T should have a long shaft Turbo 350 and NP208. Unless of course, it has be changed. The Turbo 350 for the NP203 and NP205 are the same (short shaft). But the Adapters between the transmission and transfer case are different.
