TAC Module for Vortec - Drive By Wire

Gentlemen, thanks for the previous help with the 5.3 wiring from my 2004 Buick Rainer donor. With you guys ideas and expertise, I determined this plug was for the TAC module

Unfortunately, now I realize, I didn't get the TAC module from my doner.

To make matters worse, I already purchased what I believed was the pedal for my application, and built this fancy pedal bracket for it. Doesn't it look nice?

Now my problem is that I'm not sure which TAC module to purchase. All the ones I find on Ebay and elsewhere, have a pedal with them that looks nothing like mine. The Wiring Connection doesn't even appear to be the same. Mine is clearly a six pin, in a row.
I haven't been to the salvage yard yet to look around, but that's my next step. Just thought I would put this out here first and see if you guys can help.
Anyone with experience, or maybe a vehicle in this range (2004) can see what their pedal connection looks like.
I might be able to just purchase one of these, but I don't want to cut out the pedal bracket if I don't have to.
Maybe I could rewire/solder the connection to make it work.
Any help is appreciated.

What I'm finding on Ebay:

Thanks guys.

Sorry, should have stated that. Engine donor was a 2004 Buick Rainer. 5.3 aluminum block.

I actually had to look that one up and you may be out in the wrecking yards seaching for that exact same model to glean a part from.

Best I can suggest is get the GM part numbers for the unit you need and then search that part number. Somewhere there will be a listing of every model that part fits if you are hunting used or you will find a new oem unit for the best price. .

I went searching and found this (gathering info for an OT LS swap) you have to read through it and decode a bit but it may help a lot as some of the posters seem to be pretty knowledgeable it is a 2011 thread though. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ac-pedals.html

Re: TAC Module for Vortec - Drive By Wire

Thanks Raven.

I've looked at similar diagrams, but not one exactly like this.

Couple interesting things here. In this diagram, it appears that the pedal does have the 6 pin connection I need, although the actual connector could be different.

Also, I assumed the path was from Pedal, to TAC Module, which communicated to the PCM and the Throttle Body.
In this diagram, there is no TAC module (or it has been named the Powertrain Control Module, which I think of as PCM, the main computer.)

Is it possible that this diagram (and potential the pedal I purchased) is for a V6 model, and the V8 is different and uses a separate TAC module?

Cool, thanks. How about the last diagram you posted?...V6 or V8? It appears to have the pedal I want.

Do 5.3 Trailblazer, envoys, etc... use a TAC module? The ones with a 4.2 have the TAC integrated in the ECM.

Re: TAC Module for Vortec - Drive By Wire

I knew this when I bought it, but these are bit of diamond in the rough. It's my bad for not getting the TAC module when I purchased the donor engine.

I'm still not sure if the pedal I have (6 pin connector) was on those V8 models. I just spent an hour and a half calling all the junkyards I could find, looking for a Trailblazer/Envoy/Rainer/Bravada/Ascender with a 5.3...no dice.

They had an aluminum block, so they are snatched up quick.

I called and talked to PSIconversion.com. They were super helpful, and basically told me I need to get the truck pedal. I can get pedal, TAC module, and harness for about $270, all in, from them. They were so helpful, I want to support them. But I'm basically back to where I started, with those pics from ebay, (used for about half the price).

Just thought I would try to tie up this discussion.

Looks my sweet pedal bracket was a waste of time. And the other pedal I bought.

Thanks for your help guys.

Re: TAC Module for Vortec - Drive By Wire

http://lt1swap.com/identify_vortec_engine.htm

The TAC module HAS TO MATCH pcm fairly close. The 99-02 TAC MUST be used with a 99-02 PCM and proper operating system in the PCM, same goes with the 2003+ TAC. I have found the same TAC module was used in the 2003 to 2005 pickups. 2006 The TAC module part# changed, and was used with a different gas pedal as well. The 2006 gas pedal harness will have a large 10 position connector on one end (6 pins used) and a smaller 6 position connector on the gas pedal end. The 2006-07 TAC module must be used with a PCM programmed for proper 2006-07 operating system. There is an 8 digit number below the barcode of the 2003+ TAC module.

2003-2005 TAC # 12573058, 12588923 <= should both be compatible for 03-05 pcm's. I have used the 12573058 all 3 years no problems, not sure on the 12588923.

2006-2007 TAC # 12590008

Re: TAC Module for Vortec - Drive By Wire

Fakky, I'm curious if this is the same in the Trailblazers. It seems 04-07 is their range of parts compatibility. I wonder if they changed the SUVs before the trucks.

Re: TAC Module for Vortec - Drive By Wire

For the good of the forum and future inquires, I thought I would put a wrap up on here.

So I finally figured this out.

If you have an 2004-2007 Trailblazer SS or similar platform, with the 5.3, they use a different TAC module (or so I'm told...looks very similar.
And they use a different Accelerator Pedal. This pedal uses a 6 pin connection, rather than a 10 pin connector like on the truck.

I will list the two connector parts below, along with the pinouts.

Thanks a ton to you guys for your help during my month-long journey to find this solution.

Also, a shout out to Scott and the Donovan Chevrolet Parts Counter for the Pinout. You rock.
