Re: 1980 c10 250ci gear ratio
2.73 most likely, based on my 78 and 82.
2.56-3.73 possible. 3.43 works decent for towing. Remeber with a 250 you're not going to run 70mph down the highway with a car hauler.

Re: 1980 c10 250ci gear ratio
I have a 1978 Big 10, It has a 350/th350 combo and has 3.08 gears. Was hoping it would have 3.42 or 3.73 gears behind that 250 parts truck.

My 250 got a 3.08.
Bonus to a 3.08 already in your truck is you already have the 3 series carrier. Just buy a set of gears to where you want it to be, cheaper than a whole rear end just to rob the gears from. |

The local mechanic wants 1200 to set up rear end with gears. The other axle is $100

Re: 1980 c10 250ci gear ratio
3.42 was an option for a 80 250, if the rear GVWR is 5600 or 6000

Re: 1980 c10 250ci gear ratio
About the only option my truck had from factory in '78 was the 3.42 rear gear. It was a 250 inline 6 with the 3 on the column.
