Question electric window

Howdy. Anybody ever R&R a drivers side front electric window? Mine quit working (consistantly) and I suspect the motor is going bad (1991). I don't find how the heck you get the old one out and a new one in.... Is it possible that I have to cut a hole in the door (inside) to get it out? Any help will be appreciated. Are there any other things that can cause this problem? Is there a way to test the switch to make sure it's not that? Thanks for the input folks! Walleye1 <((((<<

hi walli
first off you have to take off every single piece of plastic door part---the overlay modeling is what i am talking about....no you do not have to cut a hole--even though it may look that way....then you'll find- 2 vertical size holes about 11 inches in lenghth and 4 inches deep to change out the motor...if you use the window alot or have bad trim it's the motor,,,but you can get the switch check at most anywere...chevy dealer-shucks-napa--will all do it for you....

then it's alot of knuckel scraping to take it out and put it in----but when you take it out make sure you take out the regulator-with it--or you'll never get it apart by itself...and get a manual to help everything go back the rite way---that is if your at all like me and need the help....

best off luck--it gets easier as you go-on the second one,,,the first ones allways a bear...

AAB - thanks for the reply. That's sort of what I expected. I had all the crap off the door once already to oil everything up - it just didn't look like there was anywhere to pull that sucker thru. Guess I'll tear into it and see what happens. (and yes, I need the help! ) Having a drivers window that doesn't roll down really bites. Thanks again for the input! Walleye1
