Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

stock would ramp in the boost and RIGHT at peak RPM it would hit 16psi for like 1sec. mine was tuned to basically 18psi all the time. the only smoke from mine was a bad PCV that would fill the intercooler with oil. then when i'd get to ripping on it she'd suck that oil up into the intake. had an oil separator on it for a while, but was too much trouble to empty it that often. so instead i just stopped changing the oil and added some now and then. haha

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

do you have any plans to build the motor at all? i did a bunch of research and was just about to build my ALH for 300hp before it went in the '55 ... then the 12V fell in my lap.

I feel your pain on the wiring. I have been wiring mine for what seems like weeks.

Marc
Wiring does seem to take forever. Yes total contrast to my other trucks engine bay.

i always worked with Franz, great dude. TONS of great feedback from everyone who uses them. but they can be slow to reply and respond, gotta have patients.
I'll look him up. All of the parts, adaptors and tune I use are Canadian which is nice.

This one should work well with the setup I've got together. My Jeeps ALH runs 20psi all the way through this one has a different but bit bigger turbo.

Stock internals are more than enough for even stage 3 which is what I'm thinking I will run. 140whp and 240wtq. I'll have to do injectors tho. I run a stage 2 in my Jeep and it pulls great, not like a 12V tho.

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

Yes it is.
Today I got the front end hanging on it's own, front clip body mounts are tacked in. I need to do a bunch more work to the inner fenders before I can take them off to clean and paint.

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

On the weekend I got the cold side of the intake put together. Then put in a crossmember and bumper supports. 2x4 1/8" then 2x2 1/4", I added a lower brace but forgot to take picture. The bumper is the tow truck bumper that came with this truck it is 1/4" thick it will never dent that's for sure. It is now sitting at what will be ride height, bumper at 7" and running boards will be at 6".

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

I have been working on the wiring getting things terminated. Motor wiring is in and hooked up, so much neater. Also running the wires under the dash, it's all coming together. I never thought I would end up with 8 relays.

Looks good. Wiring neatly sure does chew up time.
I'm running the same nostalgic shifter. I need to switch it over yet. I have been using a regular one for mock up.

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

So test fit went well, changed the mounting a little and made my brackets to install the fan. It is back to the rad shop for them to finish up and paint. A few more little goodies came in the mail still waiting on the intercooler.

Ya they paint it black with a special paint to dissipate heat better and stop the copper from turning green.

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

Well some parts arrived I have been waiting on. I ordered the inter cooler mid January, mid February it got turned around at the border? and sent back to supplier. So I ordered another one from a different place and it showed up today The door seals I ordered December 7 and they showed up on Tuesday. Nothing like taking 4 months to get here, lets hope the seals work better than the ones on my other truck.

That's the idea. I have a similar size intercooler in my Jeep and seems to work well.

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

Well I'm finally back on the truck, spent 3 weeks helping my son work on his Jeep CJ6 it's almost ready for the road.
I got the intercooler mounted up used some of the packaging to help mock it up and the pipes run. It's going to work really nice.

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

Took the front clip apart to finish up a few things before the front end goes to get blasted. Now you can see the bumper support and front cross member.
