what size to plug disconnected brake lines at the rearend

Hey, I'm gonna pull out my rear-end assembly and in doing so I need to disconnect my brake lines from the block where they split on the rear-end. What it size bolt or pipe thread do I need to plug it so I don't have it leaking the whole it I have the rear-end out. thanks

What I would do is disconnect the two hard lines from the brass tee and leave the tee connected to the flex line. The tee should un bolt from the axle. Plug the two open ports of the tee with inverted flare plugs that can be bought at Napa for a couple bucks a piece. It's hard to tell from the picture if the hard lines on your axle are 3/16" or 1/4". If they are the smaller 3/16", you will need two 3/8"-24 inverted flare plugs. If they are the larger 1/4" line, you will need 7/16"-24 inverted flare plugs. Hope this helps

You can take some inverted flare nuts & solder or braze the end closed or cut a short piece of tube off an old brake line with flare nut on it. Squese the tube closed on the end & bend it over & squese it again. Put those in the outlets on the hose.

Yup. And every decent parts store has them.

If the fluid is as dark and nasty as what I just found in my truck let it drain into a bucket so you can add new fluid. Fluid is cheap and you will have to bleed your brakes anyway.

If it is the same size as I just found on my '70 it is a 3/8 flare for the tubes to the cylinders.

I went to a hardware store and picked up a few of all their sizes of rubber plugs. I had my axle out for a few weeks changing the gears and bushings and had no leaks during that time.
