Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Finally roller status. Still working through torqueing the front control arm shafts to allow more range of motion. I torqued them in the air versus loaded on the ground. Big mental stepping stone for me. The wheels are just roller wheels I borrowed from a buddy, but I like the wide look.

KMC,
Looking good. I was just south of you in Marshall yesterday. The classic, slotted aluminum wheel is like a pair of jeans. Never out of style totally. I want to hear more about the exhaust cut outs in the cross member.

Nice job, but you’re 53 years too late. Kidding, if only these were used back then!

The material I used is called
Aqualon Edge Soft, it is a tough, waterproof fabric with a soft interior lining so it is soft on the paint. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2YZk-Bh3kY

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I finally finished up my vintage air heater/defrost install just before summer haha. Had to relocate some gauges where the heater controls now reside.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
This has been my virus project. Working out the wiring on my truck. I got tired of poking everything with my volt meter so I wired up some old trailer lights I had on the shop. I now have back up lights, stop lights, turn signals, and even got the dome light working. Still have not gotten the hazards to work yet but that is low on my list now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
No photos sorry. It was somewhat an ordeal.
The boost gauge was relatively simple, just removed the plate on the back of the cluster and cut it in half. Cut a clearance hole in the clear plastic faceplate and mounted the gauge using the auto meter bracket and thumb screws. The egt was more involved going in place of the factory tach. I cut a 2” hole in the clear gauge faceplate and hand filed it to fit snugly. This is how the gauge is held in place. Cut another tight fitting hole in the stamped steel panel that has the factory gauges. Then used a sheet metal uni-bit to drill clearance holes in the back of the cluster to clear the light terminal and egt probe terminals. Lastly used a razor blade to cut through the plastic membrane that connects the electrical power to the lights and gauges. Also cut the studs off the auto meter gauge. It wasn’t too bad but there were a handful of roadblocks that i didn’t foresee but was able to work through them.

Finish rebuilding drivers vent window and hood hinges. Machining new rivets for the hinges took most of the day. Penning them over was not going well until I thought of my air chisel...then bingo. Hinges are now supper tight.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
No photos but sprayed my first bit of epoxy primer on the bed steps. Not my best job but at least they won’t rust while I am working on the rest of the truck. Rushed it a bit and got some runs but they will sand out.
