Cab Lights?

What year did the bumps for clearance lights first appear? Before that were the clearance lights factory installed or dealer installed?

I think the bumps started in 69.

I don't claim to know at all, but if you look at the motor vehicle safety standards there were major revisions, including adding side marker lights to cars, for 1967. That'd be my guess if I had to guess.

Eric is correct. '69-'72 had the raised pods on the roof.

I can't honestly say off the top of my head..... That's why I didn't answer CG's question on that.

Both. For 67-68, If ordered, they were installed at the factory. Dealers also installed them per GM's instruction sheets. Yankee 77's were the model cab lights used in 67-68.

I have a 1967 CST with a Dec 01/66 production date and the U01 Marker Lamps on the SPID.

I have an extra roof with the bumps and I have an NOS set of the yankee lights. Weird thing about them though is no rubber bottom, its a foam seal. Maybe the fella I bought them from took the rubber bottoms ... long time ago, oh well.

Anyway, just trying to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. Thanks for the help and I hope my question helped others out too.

Personally, I like the look of the raised pad setup with cab lights, but, having said that, my inner geek would only add a raised pad roof on a 69-72 and would use Y77s on a 67-68. Y77s could also be purchased for install by the dealer or as a kit for the owner to install even after 68 - well into the square years, however those would not appear as a U01 on the SPID - only the factory ordered ones would be on the SPID (i.e. 67-68 U01 (Y77) or 69-72 U01 (pads)). I have a set of Y77s socked away somewhere, possibly for use on my 72, but I'm almost certain they had a rubber bottom gasket(??) - I'd have to check to confirm though. Here's a pic of the gaskets I'm pretty sure are on mine also for ref.

Yep, GM did what they had been doing for any +10k GVW trucks (think DRW/Cab & Chassis) all along through '68...just add the contoured base Yankee77 style. By '69 they came up with their own design integrated into the roof. Or more like integrated the roof into the clearance lamps 69-72. The same lamps went directly onto the roof with no modification 73-91 R/V.

These are the lights I have. Metal chrome base. I think the foam pad might have tucked up inside? But when you sit the light on it the edge of the foam just barely sits outside of the base. I believe they are in GM boxes too. Would love to have a set of the rubber gaskets, but good luck finding something like that alone without lights.
